This program will for young men and women between the ages 13-18 in the 8th to 12th grade. Participants will meet one Saturday in a month unless otherwise specified. The Tie and Doll Program is a 7-9 month process that involves extensive preparation and involvement in three basic components: leadership, community service, and cultural enrichment. The leadership component will consist of speakers presenting on topics such as interview skills, conflict resolution, teamwork, brand building, etiquette, dressing for success, healthy relationships, and modeling & self confidence. The cultural enrichment component would expose the participants to different activities and programs such as American Sign Language, the Alabama Legislative Page Program, performance arts shows, modeling techniques, fishing, and more.
At the end of the program, participants will participate in The All DOLLed Up & The All TIEd Up Talent and Fashion Show. Also, participants would be able to showcase their talent. At the end of the event, the young men and women will be rewarded with a scarf or neck tie to take home.
The Tie and Doll Program is a youth empowerment and mentoring program for young men and women ages 13 to 18. The program seeks to build the participants’ self-esteem and empower them to lead courageously, give generously and enrich themselves culturally so that they can make good choices for themselves and be positive influences in their respective communities.
