Prattville Man Sentenced to 50 Years in Child Sex Case

An Autauga County judge has given a man what amounts to a life sentence in a child sex case dating back two decades.

A judge sentenced 67-year-old Oscar “Bill” Wingo of Prattville to 50 years in prison Monday on three child sex convictions.

Assistant District Attorney Casey Biggs tells the Montgomery Advertiser prosecutors are pleased with the sentence. She says it amounts to a life term because of Wingo’s age.

Jurors deliberated less than 15 minutes before convicting Wingo on three counts of sodomy in June. Testimony showed some of the abuse happened 20 years ago.

The victims were all young boys, and two of them are now adults.

A defense lawyer indicated Wingo plans to appeal.
